- Established in 2009 by Riz Smith, all Riz Boardshorts are made from 100% recycled and recyclable materials and finishings, manufactured in Portugal in small runs.
- Digitally printed in the UK, illustrated fabric designs include endangered British wildflowers or native seaweeds, as well as endangered fish, flowers or insects in the hope to foster awareness of these species.
- In working towards a perpetual loop, Riz Boardshorts encourage the donation of old surf shorts through Rizcycle in exchange for a discount on a new pair—preventing clothing going into landfill that can be recycled and reused.
- Riz Boardshorts donate a portion of profits to ocean and environmental charities Marine Conservation Society and The Eden Project, as well as past season stock to The Wave Project.
